 BANDS: SEX JAMS / VORTEX REXWHERE:PMK Innsbruck WHEN:26-02-2010 DOORS: 21:00 DAMAGE:6.00 We are not gonna hype anything we dont like, and that‘s that! Well, what am I supposed to write here? Some triumphant article on how wonderful these bands are? If you are a wee bit informed you might already stumbled over some article, feature, interview et cetera of the two bands cause both bands seem to be liked by the dizzyheads from FM4, VICE, THE GAP, TBA and the rest of the "opinion leading" gang. And ALTHOUGH both bands are treated like darlings of the week by before mentioned “indie media” we booked them CAUSE THEY ARE GOOD! VORTEX REX has already some reputation as “action-oriented group influenced by newer cultural phenomenons like skateboarding, hip hop, punk, beats and noise”, but here, what the heck does that tell you? Right about nuthin'! They are all nice and noisy with the new lineup, and believe me, they are better than ever. They are playing real songs now. Childish lo-fi pop trash is the key. SEX JAMS just have their full length out on the infamous FETTKAKAO imprint and soon their blend of DIY/ Post HC / DC Punk will be entertaining every Tommy, Dick and Harry but before they hop on the hype bus, let us dance with them at the PMK again, like we did last summer when the opened up the PMKay Birthday Bash. BANDS: THE MAKEOUTS / BEAT BEATWHERE:PMK Innsbruck WHEN:05-03-2010 DOORS: 21:00 DAMAGE:5.00 All I know is that rocanrol™ is fun just as long as it’s simple and stupid. This is why I inked a deal with both bands, THE MAKEOUTS and BEAT BEAT, not only for a single, nope, for two full length albums. Both bands are definitely enjoying the simplicity of straight, catchy and high energetic rocanrol™! THE MAKEOUTS started long time ago as a RIP OFFS blueprint, short harsh guitar riffs, fast paced songs and snotty vocals. Singer Jakob used to order records and the zines from me when I did VARMINT RECORDS. He sent me their first demo with four songs on it, and this one blew me away. So I did a 7? with them on my new BACHELOR RECORDS imprint which I just started at that time with releases of BLACK LIPS and CLOROX GIRLS. THE MAKEOUTS became quite well known in their country, played with all famous garage punk bands that stopped by, and toured Europe with THE HEARTATTACKS (also from Sweden). The got quite some reputation as fun live band and got invited to festivals like ROTTERDAM RUMBLE, PRICKLY PEA BOWLS (Sardinia) and the CHOKE FEST (Innsbruck, Austriah!). After years and years of practicing they finally learned how to play their instruments and got back with a unique mixture of punkrock and garage pop, they definitely learned their BACK FROM THE GRAVE and NUGGETS lessons and fired them up with some serious BLACK LIPS, JAY REATARD and KING KHAN & BBQ SHOW herbs. After they were touring USA and CANADA in 2009, BEAT BEAT finished recording the full length and gave the recordings to Matteo from the MOJOMATICS. He polished the songs a bit and after “only” one year of production time here is the final LP…. If you catch them live you will soon know why it took forever to get this album done… these guys like playing live and par-tee-ing a lot more than just record songs and do stoopid photo shoots for the artwork… It’s really Garage Trash Pop in perfection! Two guitars, bass and a drummer who is doing lead vocals, all sounding like some of the "high points of the long gone Crypt and SFTRI era with a mashing of the Spaceshits more 50's-ish smash-up's and the going off the rails engine block explosion of a lost Dirtys track" (Smashing Transistors)!
